Xenia
has been a professional harpist for several years having
trained with Elaine Pamphillon in Cambridge and then at
Dartington College of Arts. As well as working solo as a
freelance musician she also works with a flautist in the
duo Syrinx, and in the trio Estampie specialising in
medieval and Baroque music. Engagements have included
playing for HRH Princess Anne at Newmarket, the Epsom
Derby, Arts Club Mayfair, The Travellers Club, Pall
Mall, Swan Hotel in Southwold and Lavenham, Hintlesham
Hall Hotel, The George at Stamford, Langley Castle,
Hexham, Lumley Castle County Durham, as well as many
private parties, and weddings up and down the country.
Film work includes the soloist for Sands Films
production of the Childrens’ Midsummer Night’s Dream and
‘Car boot’ a new film by Vincent McInerney. Theatrical
work includes The Hired Man, South Pacific, A Little
Night Music. In 2006 Xenia wrote the Secret of the Sea
Star, a musical play for children which premiered at
Southwold Summer Theatre, and in which she played the
harp. The sequel, The Sea Poppies Mystery was
commissioned by the theatre in early 2007 and the show
was premiered at Aldburgh Summer Theatre.
Xenia
has recorded her own CD of harp music as well as working
as a session musician for many other artists.
Xenia
is also a singer and is currently working on an album of
original material together with arrangements of
traditional music for harp and voice.
