'The harp' which one? This harpist
has a collection of 23 harps covering 1000 years of the
instruments history.
Holding an MMus in performance for
Goldsmiths College and an O.S. (gaelic PhD) from the institute of
Traditional Celtic Music, this harpist can offer a wide
range in musical styles and he is very happy to discuss
repertoire, which can be tailored, to the event,
whatever the musical need from mediaeval to jazz and
pop. Period music can be provided to suit historical
venues or interspersed with modern and popular music to
provide variety.
A professional performer from the
age of 17, he has held residencies on the Isle of Wight,
and in London, Amsterdam and San Francisco. He has
provided music for film, theatre, television and radio.
He teaches at a London music college, and edits
forgotten repertoire for publication and has three solo
recordings commercially released. He has a wide
experience of providing both focussed entertainment,
including historical music for English Heritage and The
National Trust, but is equally comfortable providing
background music at weddings and enjoys helping people
find the right music for their event. This Harpist
also appeared on an episode of
'Celebrity Come Dine With Me' as the entertainment booked by
celebrity Jan Leeming. The celebrities had some great things to say about his
playing. You can watch the episode here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBe7cTuxKi4 Unfortunately, he appears
quite close to the end, so you do have to wait a while.
Special Notes For This Harpist;
Unfortunately, due to the
sensitive nature of the instruments, this harpist is unable to play outside, as
direct sunlight, changes in humidity and wind chill can damage the instrument.
Performance in a marquee is possible, provided that adequate and consistent
shade is provided. Other situations, such as conservatories and gazebos may
be possible, again, provided that the harp is sufficiently protected from
conditions that may be detrimental to it, so please consult before
booking. Most other harpists will play outside but with some exceptions.
