Eleanor was
born in Buxton, Derbyshire and first saw the harp at the
age of six on television in a Marks Brothers film. After
another six years of persistence she finally managed to
persuade her parents into investing in an instrument and
since then has never looked back. Eleanor studied first
with Mair Jones and then went on to Chethams School of
Music to study with Jean Bell from the Halle Orchestra
with whom she continued at the Royal Northern College of
Music. During her time there she gained a degree in music
and was awarded the Guinness Scholarship for the Harp. It
was there that she became interested in contemporary and
chamber music for the harp and started to arrange for the
instrument herself.
Eleanor then went on to gain an ARCM in London, and has
since acted as Principal Harpist with most orchestras in
Britain including all the BBC Orchestras, The Halle
Orchestra ad the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Eleanor has
also played for the London Pops Orchestra and has done
sessions for television and radio and has worked with Tony
Bennett and the Moody Blues. |
