Harpist NW14
is now a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, after studying under
Eira Lynn Jones. As well as being involved in many orchestras within college,
She is a member of Camerata Scotland and has performed in the Royal Albert Hall,
The Queens Hall, The Glasgow Concert Hall, The Bridgewater Hall as well as other
venues across Britain and Europe. She has also played with NYOS, Manchester
Camerata, Halle and the Lincoln Chamber Orchestra. Having studied in St Mary’s
Music school with Catriona Mackay for 9 years, she was able to win First Prize
in the Edinburgh Harp competition in 2005 and went on to win the Directors
Recital prize in her final year at school in 2006. Being of Scottish heritage,
Harpist NW14 is heavily influenced by folk music and as well as being a member
of Twelfth Day folk duo, who recently performed in the prestigious Glasgow folk
festival 'Celtic connections', and Toulouse folk festival, she writes and
arranges many of her own tunes and songs. Twelfth Day have just released their
debut album Northern Quarter in June and are touring across the UK this
summer to promote it. This talented harpist has also experimented with
Jazz, Pop and World music and embraces any new ideas with open arms. She has
recently composed a harp quartet called “Clouds” which has 5 movements and
features lots of improvisation and a poem, sung by her and written by her
father.
In between her many public performances she also enjoys playing at private
functions such as weddings and corporate events. |
