She is a
full time contemporary harpist based in the North West
available for any kind of wedding, function or other
booking. She specialises in music for street theatre,
large scale performance projects, creative session playing
and performing nationwide with various bands.
She has played at a huge variety of venues, from the
beautiful Albert Hall in London and Philharmonic Hall in
Liverpool to festivals such as Green Man, The Big Chill, Bestival, Shambala and Glastonbury. She has toured all
over Europe with several bands and some incredible live
shows.
Recent outdoor projects include playing for the Capital of
Culture Opening Ceremony in Liverpool for an audience of
60,000, devising music for a large pyrotechnics show at
the Stourbridge Festival of Glass and performing in the
middle of a field full of raining fireworks, and
performing and improvising in a moving cherry picker 40
feet in the air for audiences of more than 100,000 with
the spectacular La Machine spider show both in Liverpool
in 2008 and Japan in 2009. This year has also seen She
performing with the world-famous La Symphonie Mechanique
(mechanical orchestra) in France and collaborating with
the brilliant Nitin Sawhney in Italy for Aftershock
Project.
As the harpist for the Matthew Halsall Sextet, She
holds a monthly residency at Manchester's Matt and Phred's
jazz club, has recorded live sessions for BBC Radio 2 and
BBC Radio 6 Music at Maida Vale Studios and frequently
performs in London at venues such as the Jazz Café and
Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club. She's own music with her band
She and the Red Socks, has been described by Sir Paul
McCartney as having 'beautiful melodies, lovely folky
vibe... great feel'.
She trained at the Liverpool Institute for Performing
Arts graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Music
and has studied with some extremely interesting and
inspiring musicians such as jazz harpist Park Stickney,
ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and Jali Nyonkoling Kuyateh,
a virtuoso on the kora (African harp). |
