Liehsja began the folk
harp at the age of nine in
Aberdeen, Scotland. On moving to Sussex she won a
scholarship to study the pedal harp with Helen Arnold. She
toured with Brighton Youth Orchestra to Hong Kong in 1999
and to Italy with the East Sussex Youth Orchestra the
following year.
In 2003 Liehsja made her debut as a soloist with the Keele
Philharmonic Orchestra touring to Paris and across
Brittany performing Debussy's 'Danses'. Graduating with
Firsts in Performance from Keele Liehsja was invited to
join
Birmingham Symphonic Winds to attend the prestigious
Midwest Clinic World Conference in Chicago, December 2003.
As a freelance harpist Liehsja is in demand for
orchestral playing, weddings, parties and functions, and
as a member of the folk band 'Andrew Norman and the
Blaxland Sisters' she was invited to headline at the
chiddinglye Folk Festival in October 2004. An exciting
upcoming event is a collaborative project with Brian
Keenan (author of 'An Evil Cradling' and
'Turlough')on the seventeenth-century Irish harper
Turlough O'Carolan, as part of the Cambridge Music
Conference on the theme of the heart in July 2005. |
