Meredith brings the music of Scotland
to the Midlands!
Meredith has
recently moved to the Midlands
from Scotland
having enjoyed a varied career for over 20 years.
She
studied the Harp and Clarsach with Sanchia Pielou at the
Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow,
and graduated in 1984 with a BA in Music Performance.
During her final year, she was asked to join the
Scottish Ballet Orchestra as their principal harpist and
has enjoyed touring with them ever since. |

Her highlights include concerto performances with the BBC
Scottish Symphony Orchestra, TV and Radio as well as
London “Proms” and Edinburgh Festival appearances.
The Clarsach (or Celtic harp), is smaller and more
portable than the Concert harp, and therefore more
suited to smaller venues. The Clarsach has a varied
range of music available to it and today, is enjoying
something of a revival, although it has been around
since the 8th Century! |

Special Notes For This Harpist;
On occasions,
Meredith has been asked to play outside. She always
declines these requests as weather conditions, rain or
shine, adversely affect her valuable instruments and
outdoor acoustics are also less than favourable! Should
you wish her to play inside a marquee, this would be
fine, as long as the marquee is properly floored and has
appropriate access.
