Harpist NTH07
started playing music at the age of seven, playing clarinet and
piano and later taking up the saxophone and harp. She has performed in
orchestras and chamber ensembles, jazz bands and traditional music groups as
well as as an accompanist and solo performer all over Britain, Ireland and
Germany. During her four years studying music at Edinburgh University, she fell
in love with the traditional Celtic style of music, and returned to the North
East of England keen to specialise on Celtic harp (clarsach), which she now
does, playing for weddings, private parties and functions in the Durham area,
even playing twice in full medieval costume!
This harpist
loves passing on her enthusiasm for music and has taught for around 16 years.
She plays a wide range of styles of music, including Celtic, classical, pop and
jazz, songs from musicals and children's favorites and can draw on all of these
to get the mix of music perfect for every occasion. As a fully trained musician,
she is happy to accommodate special requests and arrange that special song or
piece of music. She is happy to play outside if the weather is good and can
provide amplification if there are a lot of guests. She plays a Salvi Livia
lever harp which combines some of the grandness of the concert harp with the
intimacy of the clarsach. Although she usually plays as a solo performer she can
arrange to play with other instrumentalists e.g. flute so please, just ask. |
