Wedding Ceremony Suggestions
Before the ceremony I usually play gentle music from my repertoire to relax the guests as they arrive
and are waiting for the entrance of the bride.
There are pieces from my repertoire which I can recommend for the various points of the ceremony.
For the entrance of the bride I recommend The Princess Royal, as it is elegant and the tempo is good for walking down the aisle. Greensleeves is also often requested.
Other popular choices for the entrance music are: Pachelbel’s Canon / Canon in D, My Cup Runneth Over, Bridal March from Lohengrin, River Flows in You by Yiruma.
I have also recently performed song requests for the entrance such as: Songbird, The First Time Ever I saw Your Face and even I Can’t help falling in Love with You.
During the signing of the register I often play a piece called La Sola Grazia (Welcome to the Sun) a lovely Italian renaissance piece and also a couple of other pieces: O'Carolan's Welcome and Brian Boru's March. Alternatively couples frequently request songs from the list on my general repertoire list to be performed during the signing. Some popular choices are: How Long Will I Love You,
Annie’s Song, Fields of Gold, also The Rose and Black is the Colour are often requested. The length of the signing of the register can vary as it is often an opportunity for the guests to take photos of the new couple, I continue playing until the photos have finished.
At the end of the ceremony as the couple lead the guests out into the reception I recommend O' Carolan's Concerto. A bright lively piece which I feel works well leading into the celebrations.
